No dog is 100% hypoallergenic or completely non-shedding. Doodles are typically low to very moderate shedding pets chiefly due to their poodle traits but the level shedding is also influenced by specific coat genes, including the Furnishings (RSPO2) gene and Shedding (MC5R) gene. A furnished dog has facial hair such as eyebrows and a beard, tends to shed very little, and usually has a curlier or wavier coat. A weakly furnished dog has lighter facial hair and may shed the same or just slightly more than a fully furnished doodle, with a looser, easier-to-matte coat. An unfurnished dog has a smooth, “non-doodle” face and typically sheds more than a furnished or weakly furnished dog. Regardless of coat type, doodles require regular brushing to prevent tangles and matting. We get our adult dogs professionally groomed every 3–4 months and then give them light trims ourselves between grooming appointments to keep their coats healthy and manageable. Like all dogs, doodles need routine veterinary care, including vaccinations and flea, tick, and worm prevention. They also thrive with consistent attention, structure, and training, building on the socialization and foundation we provide during their first 8 weeks of life.

Dogs are typically measured in height from the ground to their withers, which is the highest point of their shoulder blades, and by weight to determine their size category. We classify Aussiedoodles, Bernedoodles, and Australian Mountain Doodles (AMDs) using the same general weight ranges as poodles: Micro/Toy – under 25 lbs, Mini/Medium – 25 to 50 lbs, and Standard/Large – over 50 lbs. All of our adult dogs and past puppies fall within the Mini/Medium category. These size ranges refer to the dog’s adult weight, and while we project puppy sizes as accurately as possible, factors such as diet, exercise level, and individual genetics can influence their final size. On occasion, a puppy could grow to be larger or smaller than both parents, even within the same litter.
