Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at magnoliagrovedoodles@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Designer poodle mixes—often called doodles—have earned a wonderful reputation as family-friendly, versatile dogs. They combine the qualities of their parent breeds, such as Australian Shepherds and Bernese Mountain Dogs, which are loved for their loyalty, playfulness, and strong work ethic, with traits like intelligence, trainability, and low-shedding coats of the Poodle. Our pups are not purebred show-dogs but purely bred to be well-rounded companions that are intuitive, affectionate, and eager to please—an ideal fit for families, active homes, or anyone seeking a smart, loving pup.

At Magnolia Grove Doodles, we take that mission to heart. We are a family-operated breeder focused on producing healthy, well-socialized puppies with exceptional temperaments. Genetics and responsible breeding practices are at the core of what we do, and every pup is raised in our home—not a kennel—so they grow up confident, loved, and ready to thrive in yours. Choosing Magnolia Grove Doodles means choosing a breeder who is fully invested in the health, happiness, and long-term success of every puppy we raise.

We encourage potential owners to first consider their local rescue organizations and humane societies. That said, we’re also upfront in acknowledging that a rescue puppy/dog may not be the best fit for every home or situation. If we do not have a puppy available—or one that aligns with your specific needs or preferences—we are happy to help guide you in your search or refer you to other breeders we know and respect.

There are many doodle crosses and sizes to choose from—Bernedoodles, Aussiedoodles, Australian Mountain Doodles (AMDs), Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Sheepadoodles, and more. While each cross-breed has general characteristics and tendencies, every puppy is unique. Their individual temperament, along with the training and environment they receive, ultimately shapes who they become.

When choosing a doodle, it’s important to consider the size you prefer and the purpose of the pup—whether you’re looking for a family companion, a hunting or herding partner, a service dog prospect, or a future breeding prospect.

At Magnolia Grove Doodles, our current niche is in miniature to medium-sized (25–50 lb) Aussiedoodles and Australian Mountain Doodles. Our goal is to match each puppy with a family based on both the family’s preferences and the puppy’s natural temperament. We also maintain trusted connections with other reputable breeders and are happy to provide referrals to help you find the perfect pup for your needs.

These terms refer to the litter’s generation and generally denotes the percentage of poodle to the percentage of the specific other breed.

  • F1 = poodle + purebred breed = 50% poodle / 50% purebred breed traits
  • F1b = poodle + F1 doodle = 75% poodle / 25% purebred breed traits
  • F1bb = poodle + F1b doodle = 87.5% poodle / 12.5% purebred breed traits
  • F2 = F1 doodle + F1 doodle = 50% poodle / 50% purebred breed traits
  • Multigen = F1b or later doodle + F1b or later doodle = percentage varies

Our puppy pricing is determined by several factors, including breed, anticipated size, and expenses with that specific litter. We require a non-refundable $400 deposit for clients to secure a spot in the selection order which occurs at the 4-week mark, with pick order based on the order in which deposits are received. After puppies reach 4 weeks old, any remaining unselected pups can be reserved specifically with a $400 deposit. This deposit is applied toward the total purchase price.

In general, Aussiedoodles range from $1,200–$1,800 while Bernedoodles & Australian Mountain Doodles range from $1,600–$2,800. We strive to keep our pricing fair and accessible, and we regularly offer discounts to returning families as a thank-you for choosing us again.

All puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract, unless breeding rights are approved. Breeding rights require an additional fee and are granted on a case-by-case basis.

Each Magnolia Grove Doodles puppy comes with:

  • A full veterinarian health exam
  • First vaccinations, vaccination record, and parasite testing
  • Microchip implantation and lifetime registration
  • A go-home goodie bag with a familiar toy and helpful starter items
  • A one-gallon bag of their current kibble
  • A one-year health guarantee against congenital disorders (accidents, injuries, and environmental/non-inherited diseases not covered)
  • Parents' health and genetic testing results

Once a litter is confirmed by our veterinarian, we announce when we will start taking deposits for that litter. When puppies reach 4 weeks of age, families who have placed deposits select their puppy in the order deposits were received. Provided each puppy meets developmental benchmarks and receives a clean bill of health from our vet, they are ready to go to their new home at 8 weeks old. The total puppy cost must be paid in full prior to the puppy being released to their new families.

We’re always happy to help you feel confident in your decision, and we provide plenty of ways to get to know each puppy. We offer photos, videos, scheduled video calls, and ongoing communication to answer any questions you may have. To protect the health and safety of our litters, we do not allow in-person visitors during the early weeks. Limiting foot traffic helps prevent the introduction of germs and viruses that could be harmful to young puppies. Only immediate family and trusted helpers involved in our program are permitted during this time.

When it’s time for your puppy to go home, we offer several convenient delivery options. We are happy to meet families within two hours of Oxford, Alabama at no additional charge.

For longer distances, we offer multiple options for personally delivering your puppy and will recommend the most cost-effective choice based on your location. We prefer not to ship puppies or use third-party transport services unless absolutely necessary.

Ground Transportation:
Ground delivery is charged at a flat rate of $0.50 per mile (round trip). If the total estimated travel time is 12 hours or more, an additional $200 fee will be added to the mileage rate to cover lodging, taxes, possible tolls, and incidental expenses.

Flight Delivery:
For delivery by air to your nearest or most cost-effective airport, the total cost will include the actual price of airline tickets, taxes, airport parking, airline pet fees, and any incidentals. Flight delivery costs must be paid in full as soon as possible after reserving your puppy in order to secure flight reservations. The remaining puppy balance will still be due at the 8-week mark, prior to delivery.

*If delivering multiple puppies on the same trip we will usually prorate and divide the delivery cost up among the recipients of that trip.

The short answer is YES, you can! We love when families return for another puppy or choose to bring home more than one. However, we want you to be aware that bringing home puppies from the same litter can sometimes lead to challenges. Littermates raised together may become overly dependent on each other, which can make it harder for them to bond with their humans. This dependency can contribute to issues such as difficulty with obedience training, separation anxiety, and, in some cases, heightened behavioral concerns.
If you’re considering getting two or more puppies, we’re happy to talk through the pros and cons and help you decide what will work best for your family—whether that means adopting two at once or staggering the timing for a smoother transition. Separate deposits are required for each puppy being selected or reserved.

All of our puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract unless breeding rights are specifically approved and included in the contract. Breeding rights are offered on a case-by-case basis. Approval is not guaranteed, as we are selective to ensure responsible breeding practices.

If a buyer fails to complete the required spay/neuter procedure within the agreed timeframe and the dog is bred—whether intentionally or accidentally—they will be considered in breach of contract and charged a substantial fee for each occurrence or litter. Additionally, any pregnancy that occurs within the first year voids the health guarantee.

At the moment we do not offer any breeding or stud services outside of our program.

We use both stud services from other reputable breeders and do currently have one male in our own program. While his services are not available yet, we plan to offer stud services in the near future.

Yes. Magnolia Grove Doodles guarantees that your puppy is in good health, to the best of our knowledge, at the time they go home. We take every reasonable precaution to support each puppy’s health and well-being and offer a one-year health guarantee against debilitating congenital defects from the date of sale. To maintain this guarantee, certain requirements must be met. These includes having your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within three (3) days of going home; keeping your puppy on regular flea, tick, and deworming preventatives; completing the spay or neuter procedure within the required timeframe; and taking reasonable precautions to prevent exposure to communicable diseases such as parvovirus. Many serious illnesses are spread through fecal contamination, so puppies should not be allowed in areas where other dogs may have defecated or even walked through. As part of our breeding and early care protocol, we follow the “All Four Off the Floor” guideline until puppies are fully vaccinated. This is crucial for animal high traffic areas such as public parks, grassy areas outside of stores, and even veterinarian offices.

Yes both dam and sire in each litter have been DNA / health tested for over 200+ genetic diseases and have had a battery of other diagnostic screening to confirm good hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. Links to their genetic reports can be found on their profiles. Puppies do not usually have their own genetic testing completed unless the pairing of the dam and sire leave questions related to certain crucial genes like determining furnishings or non-visual/hidden patterns like merle or sable. If not offered in a specific litter, a genetic test can still be requested by a potential buyer, but the cost of the test must be paid for by the requesting individual regardless if they select that puppy of not. Genetic panel results typically take 3-4 weeks to be returned and need to be sent off in the 1st week if results are wanted back before the 4 week puppy selection timeframe.

We follow both the Badass Breeders Program and Puppy Culture curriculums to give each puppy the best possible start. From birth, our puppies are raised in a structured, hands-on environment designed to support healthy development. Right within a few days old, we start performing Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) exercises daily to build confidence, resilience, and adaptability. As the puppies grow, we begin foundational training that prepares them for life in their new homes. This includes introducing potty training, crate training at night, and guided exposure to new sights, sounds, and experiences.

We often tell families that we provide the first 8 weeks of essential development and training, and the next 8 weeks are up to you. Together, these first 16 weeks are the most critical period in a puppy’s life, shaping their behavior, confidence, and overall foundation for years to come.

We do not personally offer or have partnerships for general obedience or specialized training after the go-home date. We are familiar with multiple local training facilities that offer a variety of training options that we could arrange at cost but that would delay the scheduled go-home process considerably. We would suggest that you find a reputable training program located near your location and highly do suggest that the puppies go through at minimum a general obedience training course in their first year. Most good training programs involve both training the puppy and the owner.

If you are interested in getting one of our puppies to be used in a service or special needs setting, we would love to discuss it further and look at options for you.

Boarding past the scheduled go-home date will not be guaranteed, but we will try to accommodate delivery dates as much as possible. However, understand that we also have other puppies to deliver or transport to their forever homes. The optimal time for puppies to be placed in their forever home is at 8 weeks. In their last week with us, they will have a health checkup with a license veterinarian and receive deworm medicine. If we do board your puppy for longer than 7 days after the scheduled go-home date, a boarding fee of $30 a day will be charged.
